Classic Center Cultural Foundation to Offer Scholarships to High School Students

ATHENS -- One of the goals of the Classic Center Cultural Foundation is to support the youth in our community in their continuing study of the arts. One of the ways we achieve this is by awarding scholarships to local high school performing arts students.

The Classic Center Cultural Foundation will be offering three separate $1,000 scholarships. There will be one awarded for vocal performance, one for musical instrument and one for performance art: drama/dance. The Classic Center Cultural Foundation will also be awarding $500 to the schools of the winning students. Any high school junior or senior from Clarke County or the surrounding counties  is eligible (Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe). Previous Classic Center Cultural Foundation  scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Applications and guidelines are available to download on-line at www.ClassicCenter.com.  The deadline to submit an application is March 11, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.    An audition will be required and will be held April 18, 2011 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Classic Center theatre.  Applicants should come prepared to audition on stage.  A piano and sound system will be provided.
