ATHENS – On Wednesday, March 2nd, Nwando Achebe, daughter of renowned “Things Fall Apart” author Chinua Achebe will serve as the guest speaker at the 19th Annual Darl Snyder Lecture. This event is sponsored by the University of Georgia’s African Studies Institute.

Achebe is a history professor at Michigan State University. She has just published her latest book, The Female King of Colonial Nigeria: Ahebi Ugbabe; there will be a book signing following the lecture. Her research has centered on the Women kings of Nigeria but she is also known for her work for women's advocacy and women's rights in Africa. The topic of her talk is "Journeys through African womanhood: painting a counter-narrative".

The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Masters' Hall, which is located in the Georgia Center. This lecture is open to all.
