ATLANTA -- Nine metro Atlanta Krispy Kreme doughnut shops will participate in this year's Cops on Doughnut Shops fundraiser for Special Olympics.

From 6 a.m. on Friday, June 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, local law enforcement officers will be on the roofs of the Krispy Kremes, where they will eat, sleep and play while collecting donations from customers.

The money raised during Cops on Doughnut Shops will go to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Georgia.

Last year's event raised more than $85,000, and organizers are hoping that the 2012 Cops on Doughnut Shops will pull in at least $100,000. Customers who donate at least $5 will receive a complimentary sweet treat from Krispy Kreme, while corporations that donate $1,000 or more will be given a doughnut party.
