Admitted Athens cop-killer asks for new judge, change of venue

Admitted Athens cop-killer Jamie Hood has asked for a new judge and also for his case to be moved to another county. Hood made those requests in a letter filed Wednesday in Clarke County Superior Court.

Hood, 33, confessed on live TV to shooting Athens-Clarke senior police officers Elmer “Buddy” Christian III and Tony Howard on March 22, 2011, killing Christian and seriously wounding the other officer.

He faces the death penalty for the 2011 shootings and also for the alleged murder of Kenneth Omari Wray in December 2010, outside Wray’s home on Athens’ Westside.
