Another car break-in victim comes forward | Crime
ATHENS, Ga. -- Yet another victim of the recent rash of car break-ins in the Athens-Clarke County area has filed a report with police.
The latest break-in happened some time between 3 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 14, while the car was parked on Pulaski Street.
The victim told police that someone stole his backpack, which contained a $1,000 laptop, from the car. The bag was later recovered in a nearby wooded area, but the computer was missing.
Athens-Clarke County Police are also investigating a car theft. A tan 1999 Toyota Highlander was stolen from a Hawthorne Street body shop between Feb. 13 and Feb. 16. The car has Georgia tag AIW3130.
