Urban Outfitters Store on Tour heading to Athens

UPDATE: Due to Tuesday's rainy weather, the Store on Tour will not open at 12 p.m. as expected.

The store will now open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and will stay open as late as 10 p.m. to make up for the delay.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Despite being a major college town, Athens does not have an Urban Outfitters -- until now.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Urban Outfitters Store on Tour will set up shop at 165 Pulaski Street. Created from two 20-inch by eight-inch shipping containers, the Store on Tour brings the latest styles to towns across the Southeast.

Merchandise for sale will include a bit of everything sold at traditional Urban Outfitters locations, including brand new pieces from the Fall 2011 collection -- and, in Athens only, something special for Georgia Bulldogs fans.

Two other businesses will also be selling their wares in the Store on Tour. DRY Soda, which specializes in all-natural, less sweet soft drinks, will keep shoppers hydrated, while family-owned eyewear company Tortoise & Blonde is bringing its collection of glasses for customers to try on and buy.

The Store on Tour will be open for business in Athens through Friday, Oct. 14. Hours are 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
