Marketplace radio show to broadcast from WUGA

ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Georgia's public radio station, WUGA, will host the national broadcast of Marketplace next week.

Ethan Lindsey with American public media said the station was chosen because of the campus' location in Athens, a play on the name of the Greek capital in upheaval over the country's economic crisis. Lindsey said Monday night's broadcast will focus on how the Greek economic woes will affect the U.S. economy.

Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal will broadcast live from the WUGA studios. The national show reaches about 9 million people each week and focuses on business, the economy and money as they affect people every day.

It's broadcast on more than 500 public radio stations across the country.
