ATHENS | Vigil to mark anniversary of officer's death
ATHENS, Ga. -- A candlelight vigil is planned to mark one year since Athens-Clarke County Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian was gunned down in the line of duty.
The vigil is set for 7:45 p.m. on March 22 in the parking lot outside the west police precinct at Georgia Square Mall, which was part of Christian's assigned precinct.
Jamie Hood is charged with murder in Christian's death. He is also accused of attempting to kill Senior Police Officer Tony Howard.
