Homeless man hit by car, killed | News

ATHENS, Ga. -- A 21-year-old man was hit by a car and killed in Athens Wednesday evening.

Athens-Clarke County Police spokesperson Hilda Sorrow said Jonathan Ryan Brown was pushing a loaded shopping cart north on Old Hull Road when he was hit by a GMC Yukon shortly after 7 p.m.

Brown died at the scene. Sorrow said he was wearing dark clothing and was walking with his back to oncoming traffic.

Records show that Brown was homeless, Sorrow said.

The investigation into Brown's death continues. Sorrow said the driver of the Yukon is currently not facing any charges.
