UGA student from Decatur passes away | News
ATHENS, Ga. -- Campus police are investigating the death of a University of Georgia student who was found unresponsive in a car.
UGA police say 19-year-old Michael McClary of Decatur was in the back seat while returning home after a night out with friends early Saturday morning.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that the friends tried to rouse McClary after pulling into an East Campus parking deck and called police at around 2 a.m. Saturday. McClary was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said there were no signs of injury -- foul play, accidental or otherwise.
An autopsy was performed Monday at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab. Williamson said police hope the results will help them identify a cause for McClary's death.
Meanwhile, Williamson told 11Alive News their investigation will focus on where McClary and his friends were in the hours before his death.
McClary's funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church in DeKalb County.
