Former Terry College Real Estate Student Takes on The Big Apple

Stuart Bern’s real estate career started while studying with his peers at the Terry College
of Business. In between real estate class, he managed his first rental property and spent
much of his free time driving back-and-forth to Atlanta working with architects, banks
and the city on a $5 million mixed-use development project. After the market crash in
2007, Stuart moved up to New York City to take a bite out of ‘The Big Apple’.

Within his first year of employment, Stuart Bern recognized an opportunity to increase
Bloomberg L.P.’s exposure to a new market sector – the Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
industry. Since then, Stuart Bern has published three prominent articles in Bloomberg
Markets Magazine profiling some of the top names in the industry, been featured as
an industry speaker at events and radio shows across the United States and overseen
the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) sales effort at the world’s leading interactive financial
information network, Bloomberg L.P.

Stuart Bern is responsible for strategic revenue growth and relationship management
within the real estate industry – an effort that has brought in over $10 million since
inception. He has assisted buyers and sellers in navigating through the capital and debt
markets across the US by leveraging the Bloomberg platform via opportunities within
refinancing, special servicing and distressed assets.

He says much of the focus is on sifting through commercial mortgage backed securities
(CMBS) in order to identify potential loan and property acquisitions across the nation.
This concept was first introduced to Stuart his senior year of college and he feels he
owes much of his success to his roots – the Real Estate Program at the Terry College of
Business.
