Josh Groban concert to be screened in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA -- Josh Groban is giving a live preview concert of his new album in New York City, but local fans won't have to travel far to watch the performance.

Josh Groban Live: All That Echoes will be screened at several theaters across metro Atlanta.

The concert will be broadcast live on Monday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. Groban will perform some of the biggest hits from his 12-year career, as well as songs from his sixth studio album, All That Echoes, which hits shelves Feb. 5. He will also answer fans' questions submitted via Twitter and text message.

"To have the chance to perform songs new and old and interact with Q&A with fans across the country is truly awesome," Groban said in a statement. "Fathom (Events) gives me that reach using state-of-the-art visual and sound at your local movie theater to experience a concert experience unique to any other. What a great way to kick off the album release!"

Athens Wine Weekend tickets on sale

ATHENS, Ga. -- The fourth annual Athens Wine Weekend is scheduled for February 2013, but tickets can be purchased now.

Athens Wine Weekend features hundreds of wines from around the world, as well as seminars from some of the top wine experts in the U.S. and beyond.

Athens Wine Weekend will be held Feb. 1-3. Tickets range in price from $40 for Sunday brunch to $650 for an all-inclusive couple's weekend.

The event raises money for the Classic Center Cultural Foundation. It will be held at the Classic Center in downtown Athens, with accommodations available at the Foundry Park Inn & Spa.

'West Side Story' coming to Classic Center

'West Side Story' coming to Classic Center

ATHENS, Ga. -- One of the most popular musicals of all time will sing and dance across the Classic Center stage for one night only.

West Side Story will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17.

The musical, which is based on Romeo and Juliet, tells the story of star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria as they struggle to rise above the hatred and intolerance that surrounds them. It features such hit songs as "Tonight," "America," "Somewhere" and "I Feel Pretty."

The Classic Center is located at 300 North Thomas Street in Athens.

ATLANTA -- Belk department stores will host their first-ever santafest holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 1.

All santafests will be held from noon to 3 p.m.

Highlights include crafts, family-friend activities, Christmas treats and, of course, the chance to meet Santa Claus. Participants can enter a drawing to win a $50 kids wardrobe; three winners will be chosen from each Belk store.

Symphony gearing up for Christmas concert

ATHENS, Ga. -- Free tickets for the Athens Symphony Christmas Concerts will be available for pick-up on Monday, Nov. 26.

The symphony's two holiday concerts will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9. Tickets, which cost nothing, are required for entry and are limited to four per person.

Local author and narrator Terry Kay and the Athens Symphony Chorus will also perform during the concert, which will feature several Christmas classics, including "O Holy Night," "White Christmas" and "Little Drummer Boy."

Tickets can be picked up at the Classic Center box office. Hours include 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Tickets for Jerry Seinfeld's Jan. 24 appearance at the Classic Center in Athens will go on sale this week.

Best known for his nine-season NBC sitcom "Seinfeld," Jerry Seinfeld has long been considered America's premier comedian. He has been hailed for his uncanny ability to see the funny side of the little things in life.

The Fresh Market opens Wednesday in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. -- North Georgia's newest The Fresh Market location will officially open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The store is located at 196 Alps Road in Athens. It is Georgia's 12th Fresh Market.

Opening festivities will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a Cracking of the Parmesan, a Fresh Market ribbon-cutting tradition. The first 1,000 customers will receive free coffee samples and reusable shopping bags, and everyone will be entered for the chance to win $100 gift cards.

Stop by the new Fresh Market between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for opening day fun.
